The 2022 Cinema Island calendar

For its 80 days of programming, the calendar cultural of‘Island of Cinema 2022 will offer the public screenings, exhibitions, special events, master classes and meetings with Italian and international guests.

The Roman summer will return to rejoice in one of the events of cinema and culture more loved ones by the public of the capital and by the numerous tourists who flock to the Eternal City. An edition that, while maintaining its great love for cinemawill be enriched with experiences of various kinds: from digital arts to music, theater, literature, photography, visits to virtual spaces, interesting food proposals and much more.

After nearly three decades of historythe Cinema Island 2022 presents itself with a brand fresh and innovative, which perfectly expresses the synthesis between its identity and the transformations of today’s world. The two sides of the new logo, represented by the two brackets, are ready to embrace the different multicultural souls, telling the uniqueness of the place, through the union of the two opposite banks.

The two years of pandemic they haven’t stopped the festival with appointments since remote or in other places in the capital, but now is the time to start again where it all started. Always led by Giorgio Ginori and from his teamthis twenty-eighth season, will be renewed both from a logistical and scenographic point of view, as well as in terms of contents and appointments.

The twinning with Paris

A twinning with Paris will bring on the island: Nouvelle Vague on the Tiber and at the same time in the Ville Lumière there will be the debut of Dolcevita-Sur-Seine, thanks to the contribution of the MIC and the collaboration of the most important institutions of the two countries: the MAECI, Region Lazio, Roma Capitale together with the French Embassy in Italy, the Italian Embassy in France, the respective Cultural Institutes, the Ville de Paris and the Palatine Association of Paris. A real wave of culture along the Tiber and the Seine. This particular liaison will allow the spectators of the island to see films of the Nouvelle Vague but also contemporary and animated works in addition to the Photographic Exhibition signed by Raymond Cauchetier, or the still photographer of authors such as Jean-Luc Godard, François Truffaut, Jacques Demy, Jacques Rozier and Claude Chabrol. In the year of the centenary of Pier Paolo’s birth Pasolinithe Festival officially opens the “dances” with the national short film competition “Mamma Rome and the cities” in homage to the great intellectual. Now in its ninth edition and dedicated to the under 30s, the competition invites young people to send short films lasting from 3 to 5 minutes on theme and free genre.
