Premier Padel, first P1 event in Europe: it will be in Madrid

ROME – Premier Padel, the official world padel circuit, organized by the International Padel Federation (FIP) and promoted by the Professional Padel Association (PPA) and Qatar Sports Investments (QSI), is pleased to announce the first “P1” tournament which will take place will take place in Europe, in the spiritual homeland of padel: Spain Madrid Premier Padel P1 It will take place from 1st to 6th August at the WiZink Center and in this way, the rapidly growing circuit will arrive in the largest padel market in the world. The annual tournament will take place in Madrid as part of a multi-year agreement. The qualifiers will take place on 30 and 31 July, with the main draw starting at their conclusion. The Madrid Premier Padel P1 is the second P1 tournament, category two, to be announced following the presentation of Argentina’s Premier Padel P1 earlier this year. Premier Padel is the only circuit to offer official ranking points to players and P1 tournaments will earn winners 1,000 points, as well as a record cash prize, in line with all P1 events.

There are not many countries able to match Spain’s passion for padel. The country has nearly 6 million players, over 14,000 padel courts and more than 1,000 officially registered padel clubs throughout Spain. The Madrid Premier Padel P1 will certainly be one of the major sporting events on the Spanish calendar.

First European P1 in Madrid

Premier Padel will host at least ten (10) new tournaments in 2022, including four first-class “Majors” events. The first major – theOoredoo Qatar Premier Padel Major – took place in Doha in March. The second, theItaly Premier Padel Major at the Foro Italico, it ended fifteen days ago. The other category 1 tournaments are the Paris Premier Padel Major at the Stade Roland-Garroswhich will take place from 11 July to 17 July, and the Mexico Premier Padel Major at Club Sonoma in Monterrey, Mexico, from November 28 to December 4. L’Argentina Premier Padel P1 will take place from 8 to 14 August. More tournaments will be announced very, very soon.

The love and passion of the country for the padel are there for all to see. We know that Spanish padel fans will support the P1 tournament in large numbers. Just two weeks ago we drew record crowds at the Foro Italico in Rome, and I’m sure we will create a special atmosphere at the WiZink Center in August as well ”.

The Board of Directors of the Professional Padel Association (PPA) stated: “This agreement opens a new chapter for padel in the country where our sport is most popular. The PPA is excited about the future unfolding for this sport within the Premier Padel circuit, with players at the forefront of everything that is done. The PPA looks forward to the first P1 event in Europe and we are confident that the WiZink Center in Madrid will prove to be an excellent venue for the occasion. This event will be spectacular for players, fans and all padel lovers ”.
