Paul Buchegger returns to Italy: he will play in Vibo

The Austrian place-2 stood out by scoring 516 points, essential to close in second place both the individual ranking of the best scorers of the tournament and that of points / sets, with an excellent 5.6. These are very important numbers that have allowed the new “gun” of the company chaired by the entrepreneur Pippo Callipo the prestigious recognition of being included in the dream team of the Turkish league. Therefore, a second important piece of the new Callipo Tuna is added, which will compete in the Serie A2 Championship with the aim of attempting an immediate return to the Super League.

He proved to be one of the best opposites, among the most prolific and solid in the highest national category: 52 attendance fees, 558 points overall, 458 of which achieved in the debut season in the maximum Italian tournament with the Ravenna team, where he played 26 competitions and 94 sets played, third best serve in the league (49 aces), ending the season in second place in the standings behind the Serbian Dusan Petkovic (Globo Banca Popolare del Frusinate Sora) scoring 508 points.

THE WORDS OF PAUL BUCHEGGER-

I do not deny that the arrival of Santi was a determining reason when I chose to land in Vibo because in the two shared experiences I felt very comfortable with him. There is an excellent connection between us on and off the pitch ».

Fresh from an exciting season in Turkey Paul Buchegger introduces himself:

«I am a boy in love with volleyball who, after a really complicated and somewhat unfortunate period, feels the desire to express himself to the fullest. I want to give my contribution in every training session to obtain great satisfactions both individually and with my group ».

The Austrian already has clear ideas about the goals to be achieved with his new team:

«I played in A2 five years ago and I expect a high level championship in which we will face competitive and ambitious teams. This new adventure is a great stimulus for me: I really want to do well and win to get back to SuperLega immediately. I will try to repay the trust of the Brazilian coach and the management staff in the best possible way ».

The time has come to think about his “second life” in Italy, leaving behind the ordeal of injuries that forced him to remain in the pits for two seasons:

«After my injuries I didn’t have the chance to play in Italy because it was difficult to predict the timing of my recovery. Last season I had already been contacted by Vibo but in the end I decided to go to Turkey and I was able to show that my physical conditions are good and that I can play for a whole season. I accepted with enthusiasm the proposal of Tuna Callipo because they showed me that they count on me a lot ».

Paul Buchegger has the makings of a true champion, managing through suffering to find the strength to overcome unfortunate traps and uncertainties:

“It has been a very long and difficult time. I underwent three operations in three years. After the last surgery I went to Modena and they really gave me every chance to get back to 100%. They never made me feel pressured but gave me the time I needed to recover. So I found the desire to go on and play volleyball again ».
