There Lodigiani celebrates 50 years of history and Umbro, which since last year has been the technical sponsor of the third team in Rome, has created a celebratory shirt that will be on sale in the official Umbro Italia store. The shirt is red and has the fiftieth anniversary logo in the center, but with a detail that makes it truly special: in the 50th, hundreds of names of the players who have made the history of Lodigiani are listed, including world champions Francesco Totti and Luca Tonithe European champion Alessandro Florenzithe former Juve, Lazio and Inter Antonio Candreva and the former Parma Luigi Apolloni. Besides them, of course, dozens and dozens of players who have walked the fields of Serie A and Serie B. The years pass, but entire generations of fans do not forget the joys and sufferings that Lodigiani has made them experience. A long and glorious history, collected by the current Asd Lodigiani Calcio 1972, which for several years has started an important project, which bases its foundations on the youth sector. The celebratory shirt was made in a limited edition: only 200 pieces, all numbered. Number 1 will automatically go to Giuseppe Malvicini, the founder of the club, in 1972, and still honorary president of the team chaired by Andrea Simonetti. At the Borghesiana tomorrow, Saturday 11 June, at 5 pm, there will be a match in which many old glories will also participate and which will kick off the celebrations.
The history of Lodigiani is made up of ups and downs and tells how much football can excite. In the first years of activity the team participated in amateur trophies, after which in 1974 it was affiliated with the FIGC, first participating in the second category championship and then in the promotion one. After six seasons of militancy in the Lazio promotion championship, in the 1979-1980 season, with the technical guide of Mastrantonio, Lodigiani won promotion to Serie D. Starting from the 1981-1982 season, the technical guide was entrusted to Guido Attardi, who he will coach Lodigiani for nine seasons bringing them to Serie C2. Attardi was responsible for the discovery of players such as David Di Michele and Luca Toni and the birth of the “Lodigiani model.” The 90s saw Lodigiani playing in Serie C1 and, a few years later, even touching the leap to Serie B (season 1993-1994) It was in that period that Umbro was on the shirts of the club, a partnership that lasted over ten years and which returned last year.
“It is a pride to be part of the 50-year history of this club”, comments Michela Tedone, marketing manager of Umbro Italia. “We have an almost century-old history, so we understand the value of time well. With Lodigiani we are making a good journey together, we both believe in young people and this gives us hope in the pursuit of our mutual objectives “.
“We firmly believe in this project”, continues Luigi Bowl, Teamwear and Sponsorship Manager of Umbro Italia. “And the recent victory of the Under 17 regional championship, with consequent access to the national stages, confirms that the Lodigiani staff is doing a great job”.
