There Dinamo Banco di Sardegna is pleased to announce the renewal of the contract for Eimantas Bendzius for the next three seasons. Strong forward born in 1991, originally from Klaipeda, 207 centimeters by 102 kilograms, Benji arrived in Sardinia in the 2020-2021 season, soon becoming a pivot of the team: this year, in the second season in Dinamo jersey, he has grown exponentially with the arrival of coach Piero Bucchi on the bench. Regular season mvp biancoblu, the result of a great second round, Benji closed the regular season with 15.4 points per game, 46.7% from the arc, 4.8 rebounds and almost 17 points. In the playoffs the Lithuanian winger has carved out a place as a leader on the parquet by writing, in the seven post-season games, an average of almost 14 points, 6.4 rebounds and 19 evaluation.
The three-year renewal of the number 20 represents the first important step in the construction of a Dynamo that looks to the future in the sign of continuity, with Piero Bucchi – this season’s leader – armored until 2025 and a group that can restart from the experience of Captain Jack Devecchi and Stefano Gentile together with the field leadership of Benji.
BENDZIUS AT THE CENTER OF THE PROJECT
The carreer. Born on April 23, 1990 in Klaipeda, Lithuania: excellent prospect, he grows up in the ranks of Rytas Vilnius. Sent on loan to gain experience with Perla Vilnius, he made his debut in the Lithuanian top flight at 19. Back at Lietuvos he made his debut in the top continental competition, treading the Euroleague and Eurocup parquet. In the 2014-2015 season he put his first experience outside his hometown on his curriculum, wearing the Trefl Sopot shirt, in Poland, before moving to Spain where he played with Rio Natura Obradorio for three years. After the excellent experience in the Spanish ACB, where he also covers the role of three and closes with 11 points per game, he returns to Lithuania. At Rytas Vilnius he is the protagonist, in the 2018-2019 season, of the victory of the Lithuanian Cup, for two years he played the Eurocup putting. In his first season in Italy he finished the LBA championship with an average of 16.7 points, 46.9% from three, 3.7 rebounds and 17.4 rating. This year Benji’s season had the keystone with the arrival of Piero Bucchi on the Sassari bench: elected Mvp of the regular season in the Sassari ranks, the number 20 closed with 15.4 points, 46.7% from three, 4.8 rebounds and 16.9 average rating. In the playoffs he confirmed himself as a fundamental and praetorian pawn of coach Bucchi with 13.9 points, 6.4 rebounds and 19 average ratings in seven games.
