Expectation, work, sacrifice: these are three words that Federico Dimarco knows very well. The season at Inter and his debut in the national team are in fact the result of an intense journey for the Milanese player.
INTER PULL AND SPRING – Dimarco is a Nerazzurri heart and as such he has always had one of his dreams as a footballer to get to wear the Inter shirt. A dream that came true very soon: he joined the youth sector in 2004. At the age of 17 he made his debut among the professionals at the behest of Roberto Mancini – who will meet again this year in the national team – and the following year he arrives in Serie A in the match against Empoli at San Siro.
His career in the first team, however, is interrupted even before starting, because he fails to carve out the right space among the Nerazzurri and is loaned to Empoli. This represents only the beginning of a long push and pull with Inter: he returns to Milan in 2018, is then loaned to the newly promoted Parma in the top category, and in the following season Conte wants him back among his team; in November he made his second debut in the first team. He fails to consolidate the relationship with the Nerazzurri again and is transferred to Verona, collecting thirty-two appearances and five goals.
INZAGHI – With the arrival on the Inter bench of Simone Inzaghi and the loan to Verona terminated, it is time for Dimarco to go home. He takes part in the summer retreat in Appiano Gentile and takes this opportunity to get noticed. He therefore made his debut for the third time with the Nerazzurri in the first league game and since then he has been serving Inzaghi as a left-handed in the three-man defense or left-handed in the five in midfield. His season in the Nerazzurri has been positive, he has made four assists and two goals, one of which directly from a free kick, with a left under the corner of the posts. He knows how to be more decisive in the realization phase than defensive: in defense he can show limits, as we saw in the decisive match against Bologna, but on the pitch he has character and in set pieces he can prove to be very dangerous. One perceives the fact that the link with the Nerazzurri colors is not only professional. That child who dreamed of Inter, after years of waiting and albeit with the regret of a missed Scudetto, managed to win two important cups, rejoicing not as a simple player but as a fan of a team which he is now finally part of.
BLUE DREAM – Among the dreams of any young football player there is certainly to get to play in their favorite team, a sweaty goal that Federico Dimarco has managed to achieve with satisfaction with determination and work. But another, no less important, has recently been added to this satisfaction. The player made his debut with the national team in the Nations League match against Germany and repeated his presence on the field yesterday against Hungary. Fresh from experiences in the youth national team, he is ready for this leap in quality, putting himself at the service of a team that has shown that it needs reinforcements.
