THE DECLARATIONS-

VITO COZZOLI, PRESIDENT AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER OF SPORT AND HEALTH-

«Today is a day to remember for Sport and Health. We spoke of the Foro Italico as the home of Italian sport, but it has become the home of world sport. In fact, we went from the red clay for tennis, to the green of Piazza di Siena, to the blue of the padel, to finally arrive on the sand of the Foro Italico power plant, ready to host this important event. What kicks off on Sunday at the Foro Italico is certainly the most awaited moment of the discipline. This is an inclusive, green and sustainable sport. I am sure that this summer there will be a lot of beach volleyball on all Italian beaches. We expect a lot from our champions ».

FINN TAYLOR CEO OF VOLLEYBALL WORLD-

«This great event will be followed in over 120 countries, with television coverage that will touch every continent thanks to 17 different connected broadcasters. There are all the prerequisites for this to be a World Cup to remember, one of a kind, with the strongest players. In Rome it will be a great show ».

YU CAO BEACH VOLLEYBALL DEPARTMENT MANAGER FIVB-

«Rome in these days will become the capital of sport. The best international couples will battle to win the most prestigious trophy. Beachers from all over the world will play in the Foro Italico Park, an iconic and truly beautiful place. I’m sure this will give all players an extra incentive to do well ».

DIEGO NEPI MOLINERIS, DG SPORT AND HEALTH / TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR-

«First of all I want to thank Volleyball World and Sport and Health, they are two institutions that strongly believe in this wonderful sport. The World Cup is one of the most important events in the sports world and organizing the beach volleyball one is a source of great pride. This sport is very inclusive and played by wonderful athletes. In Rome, of course, from tomorrow we will see the best interpreters of the discipline on the sand take to the field. I thank President Manfredi and the Italian Volleyball Federation for the important support in creating a very complex event like this. The organization of a World Cup brings with it a great sense of responsibility towards the athletes, the public, the institutional stakeholders and towards the entire city of Rome. Volleyball and beach volleyball at the Olympic Games were among the most viewed sports and have a huge following all over the world ».

ROBERTO TAVANI SPORT DELEGATE PRESIDENT OF THE LAZIO REGION

«The beach volleyball World Championship returns to Rome after 11 years with a very large presence of Italian teams. Also for this reason, as the Lazio Region we are inside the event and we are with our Lazio Youth Card project dedicated to young people up to 30 years, with which we will give free tickets to attend the event. We believe this makes such an important sporting event meaningful. The Foro Italico Park is a unique place in the world and is central to the development of sports tourism ».

ALESSANDRO ONORATO, COUNCILOR FOR MAJOR EVENTS, SPORT AND TOURISM OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF ROME-

«Who, like me, was born and raised in Ostia cannot help but love beach volleyball. Rome confirms itself as the capital of great events, because wealth is generated with great events. This tournament, with 216 games, will be Rome’s postcard in the world. As Roma Capitale we will actively participate in the event, also from an economic point of view. Volleyball in this city has a great tradition with thousands of members, especially among young people, with overwhelming enthusiasm and passion as recently demonstrated by the U16F championship finals at the Palazzo dello Sport ».
