11 ^ BMW Jesolo Moonlight Half Marathon & 10K: there is the challenge between the blues Faniel and El Fathaoui

MEN – After having already announced the presence of the Italian marathon record holder Eyob Faniel (2H07’19 “in the marathon and 1h00’07” on the half), the cast of athletes is enriched by the presence of Yassine El Fathaoui, the blue marathoner who last year participated in the Tokyo Olympic Games together with Faniel and who boasts a personal on the distance of 1h04’44 “, obtained this year at Rome-Ostia, and of 2h10’10” on the longest distance ( Seville 2020).

For the two blues it will be an international challenge with the Kenyans Dickson Simba Nyakundi, second last in Jesolo and fresh winner of the Stramilano and Corri Trieste, Mathew Samperu who boasts a personal on the distance of 1h01’06 ”recorded last year at the Stralugano, Ishmael Kalale and Rogers Maiyo.

WOMEN – In the women’s field, the best accredited is the Kenyan Zipora Wanjiru winner this year of the Maratonina di Brugnera (Pn), capable of running the distance in 1h11’05 ”.

Eyes also on Francesca Tonin, the 28 year old athlete from Veneto, from Feltre (BL), trained by the Olympic marathon champion Stefano Baldini. Tonin, in fact, after a long militancy in the society of her country and a few seasons first at the “Tornado” in Mira and then at “Il Fiorino” in Sesto Fiorentino, since last year has brought the colors of the Calcestruzzi Corradini Excelsior of Rubiera, the company that has seen Baldini grow up. Kenyan Meseret Ayele and Brigit Jelimo Kaberge and Ethiopian Asmerawork Wolkeba complete the cast.

It will be an interesting competition from a technical point of view in both men and women, which will see the athletes departing at 7.45 pm from Piazza Milano and do battle along a path suspended between river, sea and beach, embellished by the colors of the sunset. The 10K will instead start at 19, again from Piazza Milano.

Tomorrow, Friday 10 June, the BMW Moonlight Village in Piazza Milano will open from 3 pm with official inauguration at 5.30 pm. The village will animate the square for two whole days with the passage of the athletes, the various activities proposed and the speakers of Radio Bellla & Monella and Radio PiterPan. Here, it will also be possible to register for the 2nd Alì Family Run, the cheerful solidarity run-walk of about 3 kilometers, open to families, children and tourists who, starting at 5.30 pm on Saturday 11 June, will open the dances of the long evening dedicated to running.

CURIOSITY – One of the most important news is the strong presence of foreign athletes from 32 nations. The countries with the highest number of members are in order: Germany, Austria, Spain, France, Poland and Great Britain. The most mature athletes competing are Giorgio Marchesano, Ludwig Marat, Elio De Bon and Regina Bortolozzo. Saturday 11 June will also celebrate the birthday of: Mauro Quagliotto, Lorenzo Biasi, Enrico Maguolo, Gabrio Vergari, Dino Bevilacqua, Manuela Ferraro, Marco Boschiero, Andrea Bos, Salvatore Maggio, Lorenzo Valente, Jan Kyselka. The ‘Friends of Diego’, the group of marathon runners who run pushing disabled children in wheelchairs, will also be competing.

UNIFIED RESTAURANTS AND SPONGING – Along the way, the 21K athletes will find refreshment / sponging points with San Benedetto water every 5 kilometers and starting from the 10th km there will also be ProAction supplements and Palmisano biscuits and fruit at the refreshment on the 15th. The organizers recommend using the bottles of water present at the refreshment points also to hydrate as there are no other sponging points up to the coast (from km 17 to km 20) where they will be present showers that can be used to cool off. For the 10K competitors, there will be a refreshment point at the 5th kilometer with San Benedetto water, Proaction salts and Palmisano biscuits.

HOKA Pacing Team – The squadron of 52 pacer that will help athletes to fulfill their chronometric dream or simply support all those who want to cross the finish line of a foot race for the first time. This year the management is by the reliable Venicemarathon Running Team. In the half marathon, the pacers will be divided into 10 groups that will observe the following time bands: 1h25 ‘, 1h30’, 1h35 ‘, 1h40’, 1h45 ‘, 1h50’. 1h55 ‘, 2h, 2h15’, and 2h45 ‘, while in the 10 km they will be divided into 5 groups covering these times: 40’, 45 ‘, 50’, 55 ‘and 1h, whose management is by the reliable Venicemarathon Running Team.
