Newark needs to get experience

NEWARK -- Not only does Newark play in one of the toughest leagues in central Ohio -- the Ohio Capital Conference-Ohio Division -- the Wildcats don't have a lot of experience. "It doesn't matter what level you are at, you have to have experience. It's something you can't coach," Newark coach Gregg Forsythe said. "We really only have four players returning that started last season. I think that's one of our biggest problems -- lack of experience. "It really shows up when we run the football. A team will give us a certain look, and then they give us another look and we don't pick it up. I really do think lack of experience has a lot to do with it." The Greyhounds pushed their lead to 18-0 on a long touchdown run with 1:42 left in the half, but Newark was able to put together an impressive drive of its own. The Wildcats scored on a 1-yard Grant Russell quarterback sneak with three seconds left in the half to cut the deficit to 18-7. "We felt good at halftime because we had run the ball well, and even though we were down, our kids hung in there and put together a nice drive," Forsythe said. "Then we come out in the second half and made way too many mistakes across the board. We just aren't very consistent. Story continues click source
