Before the opening tip-off, Gahanna's guard-oriented boys basketball team doesn't exactly cause opponents to quake in their shoes.
But two or three trips down the floor, after being trapped, pressured and run circles around, teams begin to see why the Lions are unbeaten at the halfway point of the season.
Deep, balanced and talented, visiting Gahanna overwhelmed Reynoldsburg to win 68-49 and improve its Ohio Capital Conference Ohio Division lead to two games.
"The best thing I can say about Gahanna is that they're really playing well as a team and not forcing things," Reynoldsburg coach Chris Rider said. "That sort of chemistry can take a team a long way."
That's what the Lions (10-0, 6-0) have in mind after going 18-5 last season.
Anthony Jackson scored 18 points, Rob Brandenberg 14, Stevie Taylor 12 and Sam Bott 11 for Gahanna, which jumped to an 11-2 lead and used a 14-0 run in the fourth quarter to pull away from Reynoldsburg (6-4, 4-2).
